Backstage at the recording sessions

Last year wrapped up with the completion of recording sessions for my CD, “Folk Tunes, Translated”.

I won the Prix de Salon from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in 2016 to record this CD – and since then, it’s been a phenomenal excuse for delving into these different folk music traditions. The fun still continues after this recording session – I have a number of meetings still on my calendar with musicians from a breadth of rich, gorgeous folk music traditions! But I have to take a moment here to say thank you to all of the inspiring musicians that gave so much of their time and their beautiful playing to record this CD with me.

Here is the full list – three cheers to each and every one of you!

Behind the Scenes…

Here is also a backstage video from the last day of the recording session, when I recorded De Falla’s Siete Canciones Populares Españolas with the prizewinning guitarist, Izhar Elias. We had just wrapped up the recording session with the melancholy song, Asturiana, and right before packing up for the day, Izhar and I decided to just play it through one more time:
